2008 10 01 1046 Vigil for Jordan McKay

The death of Jordan McKay, an SF resident, was poignant to me for three reasons:
a) he was a cyclist, killed on the way home
2) he was a victim of gun violence
d) he was killed in part because he stopped to help someone, and got into trouble

all three are concerns I have, and concerns wifebot(tm) has for me. She worries I’m going to get killed on my bike, by a car or anything else. She’s concerned about gun violence in the city. And she’s concerned that I’m going to get killed trying to help someone.

So, in three different ways, I saw that Mr. McKay could have been me.
We’re all riding to our own grave sites, in one way or another. I have no illusions and I don’t lose sleep over it. But It was a sensitive news item to say the least.

The vigil was last night, and Lung and I were both otherwise engaged, but here are some pics, and an article on it…
