Yeesh.
This rider made news a few years ago when he went on a bender and had his face done up in unfortunate Maori tattoos. Now we learn, not surprisingly, that he was having the addictions. So he’s now in rehab, which is good for him. And getting what I imagine are years and years of laser removal surgery, so he can trade Maori tattoos for pink/white doily patterns of scarring. In the grand scheme of things, there are far worse outcomes to addiction-fueled bad decision making, many involving bikes, most involving the deaths or the maims. So he’s definitely int he green there. But the worst irony of his predicament is that neither he, nor his wife at the time, was Maori or even from NZ. Yikes. He saw it on a documentary.
