I can’t begin to pretend to know why this Chinese Lung chose to make wrong wheels, and DIFFERENT shapes at that. But I like his enthusiams…

Someone wrote to me that he liked my bike’s "colorways"…now, I read enough BikeSnob to think that this is a hipster term for color "scheme", and implies a series of matching colors that extends to ones frame, wheels, tyres, components, tats and clothes.

every year for the past 8 years, the NYC transportation alternatives group hosts a "commuter race." in this race, three people tackle a short route which represents a typical urban commute. one person rides the subway, one person rides a bike, and the last person takes a cab. (they may be able to drive the route themselves, but i don’t know about that. the point is, it’s in a car.)

and every year, guess who wins?

that’s RIGHT.

+ cyclist : 4.2 miles in 20:15.
+ subway rider : 4.2 miles in 35:16, with one transfer.
+ taxi rider : 4.2 miles in 47:11.

i think we can all agree that with the exception of exercise and all that good stuff, a bicycle doesn’t do shit for you in the suburbs or the country. but in a city, the great commuter race proves once again that there’s really only one choice for how to get around.

approved!

This is another fade I attempted…much harder than the blue/black as the red/black shows alot of contrast

This is a late bloomer in the 718 stable. Note my first attempt at Team Lope approved "fade" paint job…T-minus 6 days to Brooklyn Bike Jumble…experimented with a threadless fork and new (slightly better than $99 specials) wheels.

…also scored this one for $20…research in progress. For the few English 3-speeds I have, I am treating them as restorations.
