i should state straight away that i get it. THIS is for use on a stationary bike or a bike that’s on a trainer or rollers. fine. actually seems pretty great.

HOWEVER.

we know where this is going. so many people are getting involved in cycling these days that the number of idiots on the road is increasing at an exponential rate. it used to be that you could be reasonably confident that anyone out on the road on a bicycle had at least a half-decent idea of how to ride. in the days before bike lanes and city cycling advocacy, we HAD to be good at it, just to stay alive. but now that every kid in town is careening around with no idea how to stop their factory fixies and late-bloomers are hopping on their bikes for the first time in 20 years, there’s an EXPLOSION of people carrying over their shitty car habits to their bikes — texting, phoning, and bullshitting around, as distracted as any car driver out there, and 33 times more dangerous. do we REALLY need to add fuel to that fire? i mean i can see it now man, some recent eco-convert weaving around on their electric bicycle — reading the fucking times.

this can not end well.
