SO.
FUCKING.
STOKED.

i’ve been wanting pista bars on the tumbler for a long time, and about 2 or more months ago, i decided to just swallow my pride and pony up the money for quality goods, which is to say — cinelli. the cinelli pista bars were changed in 09 so that the 31.8 clamp area extends much further from just the stem now, allowing you to mount a brake lever. that wasn’t the deciding factor in the purchase at all, but it was nice since i do run a brake. these bars by this manufacturer are a classic, and i am thrilled to have them. i should be building by this weekend, but it’s dependent upon another arrival, which i’ll post when i get, obviously.

the purchase of these bars (and the other part) was actually a nightmare. remember above i said that i decided to do this over 2 months ago? yeah, well when i decided what i wanted, i cruised until i found the lowest price, which was from a small bike shop in ireland. they had free shipping and the lowest price by a few bucks (i think it was $111 or something after conversion), so i pulled the trigger. aaand, nothing. they didn’t have them in stock, emailed me to tell me same, and then left me hanging for weeks. i’d email them and they’d take forever to get back to me, usually with another bullshit excuse. finally, i decided to look elsewhere and wouldn’t you know it — found em new for SIXTY FUCKING DOLLARS from an ebay seller, again with free shipping. cancelled the irish order and pulled the trigger on the new order and they whipped out to me in a matter of days.

the shotpeened matte black finish will complete the murdering-out of my cockpit, the pista angles will give me a new cruising experience and more aggressive cornering response, the extended clamp area will let me use the same brake lever (this time without a shim, making it look a little less clunky), and the weight, holy shit. these are aluminum like my frame and when i picked up the box they shipped in, i thought it was empty. they weigh less than the booklet they came with. 330g. it’s NUTS. and aside from that rad forward pista sweep and the 31.8 clamp area, all the other dimensions are the same as the nitto road drops i’ve been riding. they’re 40cm c-c, with a 173mm drop and 109mm reach. that means that climbing and tucking for mash will not feel any different.

i’m fucking stoked.

more when i get the other part.

and then a big surprise on build day.

stay tuned.
